2009 Russell County Fair 3-Man Tournament

Are you ready for a super-fun, super-exciting paintball event? Then you MUST check out the upcoming 2009 Russell County Fair 3-Man Tournament. This event is scheduled for Labor Day - Monday, September 7th, 2009 in the Main Ring of the Russell County Fairgrounds near Castlewood, VA.

The original concept for the RCF 3-man came about a few years ago as a way of putting on a top-notch, competitive paintball event in a spectator-oriented venue. I can remember the first ever RCF event like it was yesterday. Lots of action, applause, and laughter made it one for the record books. I have no doubt that this year's event will be even better.

Be sure to check out the RCF website and Skyler's thread for more information about this event. Pre-registration is required so grab two friends and get signed up before the August 31st deadline. This is THE event of the season and is guaranteed to be a BLAST!

Airsoft at CCP this Weekend!

Wanna play a little pre-Easter airsoft? CCP will be hosting a game at the Honaker, VA field on Saturday, April 11, 2009 beginning at 10:00am and lasting until everyone is done playing. Like before, this is a FREE day of airsoft if everyone agrees to (1) sign a field waiver, (2) show the utmost sportsmanship and honesty, and (3) be ready to have a great time. Also, there will be a donation can available to show Roho and crew how much we appreciate the field.

Think REAL ammo is hard to find? Just wait�

It seems that the economic depression coupled with the looming threat of additional firearm regulations has really put a hurt on ammo supplies. Has anyone tried to purchase handgun ammo lately? Certain calibers seem to be very hard to find [cough – 9mm, .380 – cough]. Well, it looks like the ammo issue may hit even closer to home…

FoxNews.com ran a story on Tuesday about how the shortage of real ammo has forced military (and terrorist) groups to train with, you guessed it, paintball and airsoft. [Editor’s note – I believe these groups have ALWAYS used these for training purposes] Since it is the “in thing” to crack down on these types, it looks like some regulations/restrictions are in the works. What makes this even worse is that instead of going directly for these hardcore users, all users/players ware being targeted. How so? I’m glad you asked…

It looks like our “leaders”, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to tax…I can’t believe I’m about to type this…plastic manufacturers! Yup, that’s right! The major corporations that provide plastic to the paintball and airsoft industries are going to get hit with significantly higher taxes forcing them to pass the burden on to us and all consumers in general! What does that mean? Paintball pods = more expensive | Masks = more expensive | Airsoft BBs = more expensive. In reality, the repercussions will be felt everywhere. Do you know how much or your car is made out of plastic?

What can we do? Just like with all issues of this nature, all we can do is make ourselves heard. I’ve created a form that will send an email to your local congressman (you’ll have to pick them out of the list) that will allow you to notify him or her of your interest in stopping these regulations from taking affect. While you may think “I should do more” you’d be surprised at how hundreds or thousands of emails can influence our representatives.

Here is a link to the form and here are the actual proposed plastic regulations. I strongly suggest you read the regulations before submitting the form so you can address key points in your email.

Airsoft TOMORROW!!!

I know people have questions about airsoft tomorrow at CCP so I figured they could be answered on the front of the site. Here ya go…

Is it going to rain tomorrow? Maybe.

Will it be wet tomorrow? Likely.

Are people playing airsoft at CCP tomorrow? ABSOLUTELY!

Don’t let the threat of wet weather keep you from coming out for a great day of FREE airsoft CCP tomorrow. The field opens at 10am and we’ll play until it is too dark to play any more.

This Coming Saturday�s Airsoft Outing�

…is looking very promising! Take a look at the Who’s Playing thread to get an update on those coming out for the day of FREE airsoft at CCP this Saturday. RoHo’s been working on the field (to include expanding it) and has got some great games planned for the day. You don’t have any gear? Don’t worry about it! If you want to play, just come out. We’ll dig up something for you to use.

Free Airsoft at CCP on Saturday, March 14, 2009

That's right! CCP is hosting another free airsoft event at the Honaker, VA field on Saturday, March 14th beginning at 10:00am. The past few weeks have seen some excellent action at the always popular location and the 14th should be even better. This day will be filled with objective-based, action-packed games designed to keep everyone playing and having fun until all BBs are shot and batteries are dead. Did I mention it's FREE???

The only requirements for the day are (1) each player must sign a waiver, (2) good attitudes and honesty, and (3) the interest in having a great time playing airsoft. There will be a donation bucket available for those interested in expressing their gratitude for Roho and crew offering such a great place to play.

Rain vs Airsoft? Airsoft Wins!

That's right! 11 players braved the cool and wet weather to play at CCP this past Saturday. I believe there were two things common for all players that day:
1. Everyone had fun
2. Everyone took a spill

I don't have any pictures from this outing but it shouldn't be too difficult to imagine 11 soaked and mud covered players ~~running~~ slipping around on CCP's field.

The next game is scheduled for Saturday, March 14th and looks to be a big one. Keep an eye on this site for more information to be published soon.

Another Great Day of Airsoft at CCP

Seven players made the trip to CCP yesterday for a great day of airsoft games. The field played extremely well…but the players played even better. We ran multiple games and every one of them was action-packed to say the least. The day was full of long distance sniping, lots of movement and communication, great closer-range gunfights, and even some friendly-fire causalities (that’s the way to stalk your only remaining teammate, Roho). I had an absolute blast and believe that Luke, Jeremy, Josh, Sam, Terry, and Willis will say the same. You can check out some photos from the day by clicking here.

Also, it sounds like the Theta crew had a good time at Operation Battle Ax near Salem, yesterday too. I believe 8 players made the trip and were pretty successful with their missions. Nice job, guys (and gal).

I can’t wait to see what next weekend brings…

BTW – That is a not-so-subtle hint that CCP will be open for airsoft again on Saturday, February 28^th. Look for more info to be posted this week.

Airsoft Opportunities this Weekend

There are a few good options for airsofting this weekend for those interested and available.

First off, CCP’s field will be open on Saturday, February 21^st for your playing pleasure. It’s another free one with the only requirements being (1) following the field’s rules, (2) signing a waiver, (3) playing honest, and (4) having a good attitude. Games will begin at 11:30am and will go on until BBs and/or batteries are depleted. Need more info? Hit up Roho.

Your second option is a scenario game in the Salem, VA area titled Operation Battle Axe. There is a group of Theta players planning to hit the road early Saturday morning so, if you are interested, you may want to contact Drenlan for more info.
